Here We Go Steelers.....

The Pittsburgh Steelers are headed to the Super Bowl this Sunday. Make sure that you watch and see the Steelers try for an NFL record 6 Super Bowl wins.

I will be cheering on my favorites while wearing my "Big Ben" jersey.

I can't wait to hear Billy Riley say those few sweet words next week!

ALGEBRA 2

This week in class we have been factoring trinomials when a > 1. Some of us can do this in our head ( like Mrs. Frederick ) and others, like Mrs. Hagenbuch, need to follow the A, B, C pattern.

Students will be taking a quiz ( broken into 2 parts ) on both Friday and Monday.

CORD GEOMETRY

In class this week students have started chapter 4 on ploygons. We reviewed polygons from 3 - 10 sides. We have discussed new vocabulary such as: adjacent, consectutive, opposite & diagonals. Students have been drawing the polygons and describing the parts. We will continue to work through the sections and get into detail on quadrilaterals.

CORD ALG 1

Students in Cord Algebra 1 have been working this week with percents. We reviewed that % = part of 100 and talked about real life applications of percents. We have been doing problems revolving around sales & discounts, tax, and tip. We have been finding out the amount of tip we should leave at a restaurant. Some of us like to go to restaurants where we do not have to carry our own tray!

Students will be reviewing sec. 3.1-3.2 on Friday and will have a quiz on sec. 3.1 - 3.2 on Monday.

SR. TRIP 2009

The 1st payment for the senior trip is now past due. I am working on setting up the itinerary for the trip which will include seeing "Mama Mia" on Broadway, visiting the Natural History Museum, the Empire State Building, a movie/tv location tour, being on the "CBS Morning Show", the USS Intrepid, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and (hopefully for the boys) seeing the Yankees play the Red Sox in their new stadium.

We will be having a trip meeting on Wednesday, come prepared to ask any questions and get an update on some of the fun things we have planned.

Currently reading....

I am on the final book in the "Twilight" series, "Breaking Dawn". I have been very confused at different parts and have had to talk to Mrs. Frederick ( my BFF) about the details. I am so attached to these characters and am not sure what I will do when I finish the book.

How 'Bout Them Panthers.....

Since college football season is now over, we can look at the Pitt b-ball team. They are hot! They have yet to lose a game and looked really impressive in their win over St.John's on Sunday. the Panthers are currently ranked #1! That is a first in Panther b-ball history. GO PANTHERS!!!!

ALGEBRA 2

In Algebra 2 classes have been working through sec. 5.4 on factoring. So far we have learned to factor out a GCF from polynomials, look for special products ( squares & cubes ) and some of us have gotten to factoring trinomials by mult-add-mult.

We will continue working with factoring through the week with a quiz on Thursday on all the types of factoring we have done so far. On Friday and into next week we will be factoring trinomials with an "a" coefficient greater than 1. I will teach one way and Mrs. Frederick can teach you the was that she likes best. See her for any questions!

CORD GEOMETRY

We are cruising though chapter 4. Students have learned all about proving triangles congruent. They have now been able to not only prove 2 triangles congruent, but to also go beyond that by using congruent triangles. Out big new concept is CPCTC - which means Corresponding Parts of Congruent Triangles are Congruent.

We will continue to work with through chapter 4 focusing on isosceles triangles and right triangles.

CORD ALG 1

Cord Algebra 1 students will begin working on Chapter 3 - Solving Equations. We will be having a "pre-test" on solving 1-step equations to see just how much we remember! Hopefully we will remember tons!!!!

Students will then be focusing on solving 1-step problems, paying close attention to problems with fractions - every one's best friend!
